Player Wellbeing Officer

Appoint a Player Wellbeing Officer.

The Wellbeing Officer coordinates mental health and wellbeing initiatives within the club. This role promotes mental wellbeing, encourages help-seeking behaviour, and reduces stigma around mental health. 

The officer acts as a first point of contact for members experiencing mental health challenges and connects them with appropriate local support services.

What we look for

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and enhance the club’s mental health initiatives using established frameworks.
  • Develop and embed mental wellbeing messaging and programs into the club’s culture.
  • Complete online training in wellbeing practices and mental health literacy.
  • Liaise with coaches, team managers, junior coordinators, young members, and program facilitators to organise mental health sessions.
  • Provide feedback to refine and improve programs to better meet the club’s needs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local mental health service providers and community stakeholders.
  • Serve as a mental health ambassador by modelling inclusive and supportive behaviour within the club and community.

Skills and Attributes:

  • A strong commitment to promoting mental health and wellbeing.
  • Familiarity with local mental health services and support systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to co-facilitate sessions and engage with diverse groups.
  • A proven ability to build trust and foster collaboration among club members.
  • Creativity, energy, and enthusiasm in delivering initiatives.

Additional Requirements:
A current Working with Children Check (or equivalent, in line with the club’s child safety policies).
